The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) is pleased to announce the FY21 Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Grant Program. Now in its seventh iteration, the program provides capital assistance funds to Maryland organizations for qualified CHP systems installed in their facilities. Maryland's critical infrastructure, businesses, nonprofit organizations, agricultural entities, local and State government facilities, multifamily housing communities, and others seeking clean, affordable, efficient, and reliable power through the installation of CHP technologies are encouraged to apply for funding.
Applications will be accepted in two (2) funding rounds. Round 1 opened on August 25, 2020 and will close on October 30, 2020. Round 2 will open on November 17, 2020 and close on February 26, 2020, or when funding is expended, whichever comes first. Awards are made on a first-come, first served basis and range from $500 to $600 per kilowatt of nameplate electrical capacity of the system (kWe). The maximum base incentive is $600,000, with the potential for award multipliers for systems that include black start and islanding capability, and/or anaerobic digestion technologies to produce biogas to fuel the systems.
